Joe Mason has welcomed the opportunity to link up with Kenny Jackett again.
The striker has joined Pompey on a half-season loan from Wolves, where he previously worked with the Blues boss.
He was borrowed by Burton for part of the previous campaign and has recently had a stint Stateside with Colorado Rapids.
But now Mason wants to provide the firepower that helps the Blues enjoy a successful season in League One.
He said: “I’m always confident in my ability to score goals and especially with the way Kenny likes to play.
“That suits me down to the ground, so I’m looking to get my feet under the table here and open my account as soon as possible.

“I worked with Kenny and Joe Gallen before at Wolves and that made the decision to come here a lot easier.
“There have been a few ups and downs for me in the past few years, so now I want to get back on track and show everyone what I’m capable of on a consistent basis.
“I need to play regular football and this is a huge, iconic club, so I can’t wait to see what the atmosphere’s like.
“I’m looking forward to scoring my first goal here and then being able to celebrate with the supporters.
“Kenny is very confident with the group we now have here and – I’m sure this is said all the time – the club is really too big for this division.”
Mason has not signed in time to feature against Plymouth this weekend, denying him the chance to face the club where he began his career.
He said: “I won’t be shouting that about on Saturday! It is my hometown team, but I’m a Pompey player now and want them to win.”
