Ben Close comes into the Pompey team to face Rochdale in the second round of the Emirates FA Cup this afternoon.
He replaces Tom Naylor at Spotland in the only change from the side that beat Walsall in the league earlier in the week.
With David Wheeler also out injured, it opens up spots on the bench for Anton Walkes and Danny Rose.
