It was afternoon that everyone connected with Pompey will be keen to forget.
And Christian Burgess hopes they can quickly move on from a poor performance against Blackpool at Fratton Park.
Goals from Kyle Vassell and Clark Robertson secured victory for the visitors in a game that was short on quality.
So Burgess knows there has be a vast improvement from the Blues when the travel to Bradford next week.
The centre-back said: “It was disappointing because it was a good opportunity for us at home to put some pressure on those play-off spots.
“But we failed to capitalise on that after showing a lot of character up at Fleetwood earlier in the week.
“It’s very hard to put your finger on one thing that went wrong – there’s perhaps a small list of things we need to improve on.
“Blackpool looked the better side and it’s frustrating to say why we struggled so much in front of almost 18,000 fans.
"It’s very hard to put your finger on one thing that went wrong – there’s perhaps a small list of things we need to improve on."
“It’s going to be a bit up and down when you’ve got a young side and there was some naivety from us – myself included – so we’ve got to dust ourselves down and stay positive.
“There are still 11 games left to play and we just have to keep trying to pick up as many points as we can.
“Every fixture we’ve got is tough and there are no mugs, but we’ll relish the challenge of going to Bradford next week.”
There was some confusion about Blackpool’s first goal, with Burgess appealing for an offside flag that never appeared.
He said: “As soon as I touched it their player became onside again. That’s something I learnt and I’ve got to take responsibility for it.”
