Pompey Announce Partnership With Express FM And BBC Radio Solent

Every game broadcast live in the UK and around the world

11 July 2018

Portsmouth FC are delighted to announce an exciting media partnership with 93.7 Express FM and BBC Radio Solent to ensure every Pompey first team game is broadcast live next season on the club’s iFollow channel.

From August, Express FM’s Pompey Live show will carry exclusive commentary by the BBC’s Andy Moon, alongside Fratton legend Guy Whittingham.

And Express FM will have another Blues legend Alan Knight in the stand at every game, to add his unique perspective before and after the match, as well as at half-time.

Pompey chief executive Mark Catlin said: “We are excited by this tie up between the two foremost sports broadcasters in the region.

“Both Express FM and Solent have been rock-solid supporters of the club for many years and this link up is clearly a win-win for all parties.

“Pompey Live is an integral part of the Saturday afternoon for some fans and will continue to provide its unique Pompey-centric view of the game.

“The calibre of Andy and Guy in the commentary box is second-to-none and with Knightsie’s unrivalled insight chipping in too, this package promises to become a must-listen for Pompey fans not at the match.”

Miles Henson, station manager at Express FM said: “For Express FM listeners, this means the best of both worlds. There's full-blooded Pompey focus in the build-up to each game, plus comment and analysis afterwards from an exclusively blue-and-white viewpoint.

“What‘s more, it’s all wrapped around BBC-quality commentary from two of the best in the business. As a consistent leader among UK Community Radio Stations, this provides a fantastic opportunity to deliver a great football package to our Pompey fans.”

Adam Blackmore, head of sport at Solent added: “It’s a terrific partnership for all of us. We have worked with Express FM before, and having Andy and Guy on a local community radio station as well as on BBC Radio Solent is good for Pompey.

“The spirit of co-operation in this venture shows that we are all helping each other in a bid to provide the best possible service for Pompey supporters, and that is to be commended.”

To cement the partnership, Andy Moon will also be commentating on Pompey’s home friendly with Utrecht on Saturday, July 28 exclusively on the Express FM platform.

In summary, the deal means every Pompey competitive match next season will be broadcast live across the world on the club’s iFollow subscription service, as well as FM, AM and DAB in the Portsmouth region, meaning fans won’t miss a minute of the action – wherever they are listening.

Express FM will also be continuing with their Football Hour shows in the week and it is planned that a Pompey first team player will appear on each Thursday night show throughout the season.
