Catlin: The Shop Looks Fantastic

Chief executive pleased with store opening

21 June 2018

Pompey’s new club shop opened its doors to the public on Thursday morning.

Ben Close, Brandon Haunstrup, Jamal Lowe and Adam May were on hand to meet fans who were present for the launch.

The quartet signed autographs in the store, which is located next to the North Stand car park in Anson Road.

And Mark Catlin was pleased to see a large turnout for the grand opening, ahead of the 2018/19 home kit going on sale from Thursday, June 28.

The Blues’ chief executive said: “The shop looks fantastic. There are loads of people here and everyone I’ve spoken to has been really positive.

“It’s a good start, although obviously the big test will be next week when the new home kit goes on sale.

"We’ve got a partnership with Nike and there was a huge investment by the board into the shop itself."

“It’s part of the long-term strategy of the club to generate more revenue that will ultimately go on to the pitch.

“We’re building a sustainable business model to ensure that Pompey never fall back into the financial difficulties of previous years.

“We’ve got a partnership with Nike and there was a huge investment by the board into the shop itself.

“The press came along for the opening, while players and local politicians have also turned out, which just shows the power of this football club.”

Fans can buy a range of Pompey-branded Nike clothing and other accessories from the shop, which is run by Just Sport.

Is is open between 9am and 5.30pm from Monday to Friday, while a new online store is also up and running.
