Job Title: Disability Development Coordinator
Responsible to: Head of Sports and Coaching
Hours: 37.5 per week
Salary: Circa £18K, dependent upon qualifications and experience

Role Summary
- Continue the development and implementation of the PitC disability strategy covering a wide variety of sports and activities
- Champion and implement a programme with the aim of increasing and maintaining sports participation among those with a disability
- Work with PitC staff and partner organisations to establish competition opportunities, training environments and a selection process for representative events
- Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with both internal and external partner organisations
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of the Pompey in the Community (PitC) disability strategy
- Work with key staff members, participants with disabilities, volunteers and partner organisations to develop an effective disability strategy for PitC
- Ensure the strategy is focused on increasing participation, quality of delivery, establishing a sustainable and on-going club structure and establishing an effective talent pathway
- Implement the strategy in a collaborative manner ensuring that there is buy-in from relevant stakeholders
- Work with the CEO to identify and access funding and capacity support to enable the delivery of the strategy
- Work with the CEO and PitC managers to recruit and develop an appropriately skilled workforce to deliver the strategy
- Have responsibility for the funding streams relevant to the role
- Lead a programme with the aim of increasing and maintaining participation among those with a disability
- Establish a clear measurement system for monitoring the number of PitC participants with a disability
- Identify key drivers for participation in disability sport
- Work with relevant partners to enable a sustainable network of multi-sport sessions catering participants of all ages with a disability
You will work with PitC staff and partner organisations to establish the following:
- A series of competitive opportunities and exit routes for participants with a disability
- Appropriate environments within which talented players within disabilities can train
- Work with Hants FA to develop a process for selection of talented players representing PitC at a local, regional and national level
You will establish and maintain excellent working relationships with key partner organisations
- Build high quality relationships with Portsmouth City Council and other key partner organisations to enable the delivery of PitC’s objectives
- Interpret national programmes focused on disability sport and identify opportunities to support the delivery of PitC’s aims
- Liaise with Parent Voice and other disability organisations on improvements and the effectiveness of PitC disability delivery
- Liaise with Sport National governing bodies/organisations and seek to link PitC disability delivery
Other Duties
- To comply with the requirements of the staff handbook
- To cooperate with measures introduced to ensure there is equality of opportunity in employment and sports equity
- To comply with all aspects of Health and Safety policy and arrangements
- Install an ongoing marketing campaign to publicise disability projects to participants and promote to local media
- Assist the chief executive and management team in providing regular reports for the Trustees’ Management Committee meetings
- Any other duties as deemed appropriate by the Trustees
Person Specification
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following essential requirements:
- A range of qualifications linked to the delivery of disability sports
- A proven track record of disability delivery and of successful project management and implementation
- A proven track record of managing external partners and relationships
- A proven ability to work to under pressure to tight deadlines
- Examples of self-motivation and the ability to work on own initiative
- Excellent communication skills, including written, telephone and interpersonal
- Proven planning and organisational skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Experience of creating, building and maintaining positive working relationships, particularly with schools, youth and community organisations
- The ability to travel regularly and independently throughout the region

As such this post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) and the applicant must disclose all previous convictions, including spent convictions.
Two written references will also be required. Applicants will, in addition, be expected to undertake training appropriate to the role.
