Matt Clarke has won The News/Sports Mail Player of the Season award.
He was presented with the trophy by chief sports writer Neil Allen before the final game of the 2017/18 campaign against Peterborough on Saturday.
The centre-back was selected by readers of our local newspapers after consistently impressing in his 45 appearances this term.
He beat top scorer Brett Pitman into second place, while Jamal Lowe finished third in the vote.
Clarke follows in the footsteps of players like Alan Knight, Mark Hateley, Noel Blake, Paul Walsh, Alan McLoughlin, Peter Crouch, Linvoy Primus, David James and – last year’s winner – Enda Stevens.
But that was not the only award he collected, with the Central Branch, Chichester, London and South-West supporter groups also awarding him their Player of the Season prizes.
Pitman was honoured by the Isle of Wight, Scandinavia and South Wales groups, as well as Pompey Stateside and Clan Pompey, while the Northern Blues selected Lowe.
