Pompey Women face a league trip to Cardiff on Sunday following last week’s demolition of Eastleigh in the Hampshire Cup.
Daisy McLachlan – who leads the way as the club’s top scorer – hit a hat-trick in the 14-0 rout, with a total of nine different scorers helping the Blues book their place in the third round.
Their next opponents have, like Pompey, made a steady start to the National League South campaign.
The Welsh outfit are currently sitting seventh in the standings – two places and one point above their visitors.
But last week they slipped to a 1-0 defeat at Loughborough, who had also beaten the Blues seven days earlier.
Pompey started the 2017/18 season by seeing off Cardiff, as a crowd of 122 witnessed a 4-1 victory in a game that both teams ended with just 10 players on the pitch.
Jay Sadler’s side also managed to claim all three points when they travelled to Wales in February, with McLachlan and Eilidh Currie on target and the defence keeping a clean sheet.
Another win for the Blues would see them leapfrog their opponents in the table and possibly move up to seventh, depending the result of MK Dons’ clash with C&K Basildon.
Blues boss Sadler welcomed Sarah Eadon back from injury last week and Mel Burns is the only player sidelined, with new signing Alex Collighan set to feature.
You can see if Pompey Women can return to winning ways in the league when they visit the University Sports Ground on Sunday (2pm kick-off).
