Pompey have been drawn away to fellow League One side Rochdale in the second round of the Emirates FA Cup.
The tie will take place at Spotland on the weekend of December 1-2.
There has already been a meeting between the sides at that venue this season, with the Blues claiming all three points back in September.
A stunning strike from Aaron Wilbraham gave Dale the lead, only for goals from Jamal Lowe, Brett Pitman and Matt Clarke to turn things around.
Keith Hill's men currently sit 16th in the third tier standings and beat non-league Gateshead 2-1 at home on Saturday to reach this stage of the competition.
Assistant manager Joe Gallen said: "You're always looking for a home tie, but our away form has been impressive this season and we're unbeaten on the road.
"We know it will be tough, although we went up to Rochdale and got a good result in September, so I'm sure we'll go there with plenty of confidence."
"You're always looking for a home tie, but our away form has been impressive this season."
This will be the first cup clash between the teams, with all previous meetings taking place in the bottom two divisions of English football.
Pompey have won six of those nine contests, with Rochdale coming out on top on just one occasion.
