Vacancy: Lead Foundation Phase Coach

Job opportunity in the Pompey academy

17 November 2018

An opportunity has arisen for a full-time football coach to join our academy staff to take responsibility for the Lead Foundation Phase of academy players in the U6 to U11 age groups.

Job title: Lead Foundation Phase Coach
Hours: 37.5 per week

The role will report to the Academy Head of Coaching and is based at our training ground in Portsmouth.

To apply, you must have a minimum qualification of a UEFA ‘A’ licence and be experienced in providing successful football coaching within the professional game. The FA Youth and Advanced Youth Awards are desirable.

A key responsibility is to take responsibility for and drive the club’s Development Centres, and control scouting activity for the relevant age groups.

Experience in delivering the ‘Four Corner’ development programme within the Foundation Stage and delivery of a full matchday games programme format and protocols is essential, as is a track record of successfully working within a close-knit professional coaching team, including strength and conditioning, medical staff and performance analysis.

The role is full-time and you will be required to provide evening coaching sessions and to structure and deliver all relevant match formats for both home and away games on Sunday mornings.

The position also requires you to take responsibility for all training kit and equipment used during coaching sessions, and its maintenance.

A full driving licence is essential and a D1 category is desirable. The successful applicant will also be subject to a DBS enhanced check as the role requires you to work with children.

The successful applicant will be enthusiastic, hard-working and a strong team player, who demonstrates initiative and can manage change effectively. The role requires frequent meetings with parents, players, and club and EFL staff, so first class written and oral communication skills are required.

We require all of our Academy coaches to be computer literate so as to accurately complete and record individual and match records on the PMA System, as well as Performance Development Records, which you will be expected to deliver in a constructive manner to players and their parents in each specific age group for which you are responsible.

The club is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from Black, Asian, Minority and Ethnic (BAME) community members.

To apply, please submit your CV and a cover letter explaining how you meet our selection criteria, as well as a brief description of what you believe you can bring to the academy to shaunnorth@pompeyfc.co.uk no later than November 30 2018.

Interviews will be held shortly after that date. Applications received after that date or in any other format cannot be considered. We will not accept applications via third parties.
