Match Preview: Pompey Women v Plymouth

Blues return to league action on Sunday

6 October 2018

Pompey Women return home – following back-to-back away matches – for the visit of Plymouth on Sunday.

The National League South tie takes place at the PMC Stadium and gives the Blues an opportunity to return to winning ways on their own turf after successive triumphs on the road.

Jay Sadler’s side progressed in the National League Plate last weekend, with a 9-0 rout of Poole at the Dorset County Ground.

There were hat-tricks for Carla Perkins and Rachel Panting, while Katie James, Eilidh Currie and Hannah Geer also found the target in an impressive victory.

Plymouth are a team that Pompey have not met for some time, with the last contest taking place during the 2014/15 title-winning campaign.

The Pilgrims won promotion from the National League South & West Division last season and have settled well in their new surroundings.

Four wins and a defeat have earned the Devon outfit 12 points from their opening five matches and they currently sit fourth in the table.

Argyle let slip a two-goal lead in their last outing at QPR, only for a late goal from Zoe Cunningham to ensure the points would be heading for the south-west.

Blues boss Sadler once again has a fully-fit squad at his disposal for Sunday’s encounter and you can see if Pompey can make it three wins on the bounce.

The PMC Stadium clash kicks-off at 2pm, with tickets priced £5 for adults and £2 for concessions (63+/U18). A 36-page matchday magazine is also available for £1.
