He opened the scoring in Pompey’s deserved 2-1 victory at AFC Wimbledon.
And Tom Naylor is delighted to still see their name at the top of the League One table following the latest win on the road.
The Blues have dropped a mere two points on their travels this term and dominated for long periods at Kingsmeadow.
Naylor converted a Dion Donohue corner to open his account for the club, while Gareth Evans added a second.
And although James Hanson’s strike meant a nervy end to the contest, the midfielder was pleased with the attitude shown to see it out.
He said: “It was a great afternoon for us and it’s always nice to get your first goal – although three points was the main thing.
“The ending was a graft after they got a goal back and we all knew that we had to ride the storm to get the win.
"There could have been more goals, but our away form has been unbelievable and we want to keep that going."
“They were always going to come forward and try to get the second, so we needed to work hard to stop them.
“We’ve got dangerous players and know there are guys who can produce the goods if we get them the ball.
“There could have been more goals, but our away form has been unbelievable and we want to keep that going.
“It’s massive to see our name at the top of the table and we know that we’ll stay there as long as we continue winning.”
Naylor has been a regular in the Pompey midfield since completing a switch from Burton back in the summer.
He said: “It took the first three or four games for me to really settle in because this is a huge club with a lot of fans.
“Now I feel like I’m a big part of this team as we look to keep moving forward and have a successful season.”
