Amelia Southgate is looking to keep the winning feeling going when Pompey host Plymouth this weekend.

The defender was named Blues skipper during the summer and has featured in the majority of games so far this season.

After a four-game losing streak, successive victories over MK Dons and Poole have got them back on track.

And Southgate wants the positive form to continue with Argyle’s visit to the PMC Stadium on Sunday (2pm kick-off)

Speaking in the programme for the National League South contest, she said: “I think it’s fair to say we’ve had a fairly mixed start to the season. We’ve had some excellent performances and some really good results because of that.

“But we have also had some that we know aren’t up to the high standards we set ourselves here at Pompey and we are all working hard on and off the pitch to constantly improve.”

The Blues currently sit sixth in the table – having collected nine points so far this season – and Southgate is confident in the quality she knows they possess.

She said: “We are a footballing team first and foremost who love to have the ball and we will work extremely hard, as a team, to press the opposition and win it back.”

Also in issue four, Robyn Levett reveals her firsts and lasts, while there are the usual round-ups from chairman Eric Coleborn and Blues boss Jay Sadler.

The 36-page packed matchday magazine is available to buy for just £1 ahead of Sunday’s match.
