It has not taken long for Ben Thompson to become a firm favourite of the Fratton faithful.
The tough-tackling on-loan Millwall midfielder has won over the fans with a series of committed displays for Pompey.
Such has been his influence on the team in recent weeks, it has led to fears of a recall from his parent club in January.
Thompson is not paying attention to any rumours, however, and is staying focused on performing for the Blues.
He said: “The fans seem to have taken to me quite well, which is nice, and I’m really enjoying my football here.
“Having their support is massive – especially for a loan player because it’s not always the case – and they’ve really helped me to settle in here.
"I just try to focus on doing the best I can for Pompey when I’m out on the pitch."
“A few people have asked me what’s going to happen in January, but I’m just getting on with it and not taking any notice of what happens behind the scenes.
“It’s not really down to me and so I just try to focus on doing the best I can for Pompey when I’m out on the pitch.”
The Blues are currently four points clear at the top of the third tier table ahead of Saturday’s trip to Accrington.
Thompson said: “I’ve won promotion from this division before and know that it’s a really tough league, but the quality in our dressing room is second to none.
“The boys are top class and there’s no reason why we can’t stay where we are and have a successful season.
“Everyone knows the prize of Championship football is what it’s all about and players want to compete in as high a league as possible.
“It’s an exciting time and I don’t think there’s as much pressure as everyone thinks – we’re just enjoying our football and want that to continue.”
