Following last week’s cup defeat – which saw them drop into the plate competition, where a trip to Poole awaits – Pompey return to league action on Sunday.
Coventry are the visitors to the PMC Stadium, with the home side currently boasting a 100 per cent league record from their two fixtures to sit second in the National League South standings.
Their opponents are also unbeaten, having opened their campaign with a goalless draw at Gillingham – the team beaten 4-1 by the Blues a fortnight ago.
Jay Bradford’s outfit followed that up with a trip to Stadium MK, where they emerged 3-0 victors against the Dons.
Coventry also earned themselves a place in the next round of the National League Cup last time out, courtesy of a crushing 7-0 win over Norwich.
"We know we can perform – we just have to believe in ourselves and trust one another."
But Pompey will be looking for a return to winning ways and manager Jay Sadler said: “There have been encouraging signs in training this week.
“We’re looking forward to getting back out on to the pitch. We know we can perform – we just have to believe in ourselves and trust one another.”
See if the Blues can make it three league wins from three on Sunday afternoon at the PMC Stadium. Kick-off is 2pm and tickets are priced £5 for adults or £2 for concessions (U18/63+).
