Rowe Expecting High-Tempo Encounter

Midfielder looks ahead to MK Dons trip

21 September 2018

Danielle Rowe is looking for Pompey Women to bounce back when they travel to MK Dons this weekend.

Sunday’s National League South fixture will be played at Stadium MK, with the contest kicking-off at 2pm.

Rowe has proved to be a pivotal part of the Blues’ midfield so far this season, following her summer arrival.

And with Pompey having lost their past three league fixtures – seeing them slip to seventh in the table – Rowe is searching for a return to winning ways.

She said: “We’re expecting a very high-tempo game. It will be physical and with MK Dons being on their home turf at Stadium MK, we know it’s not going to be easy.

“There will be a lot of space on the pitch – and we need to make sure that we can utilise that.

"We need to get the winning feeling back around the club and I know that this group of girls has got what it takes to do so."

“No-one likes losing and both sides have had tough starts to the season. We need to focus on Sunday’s game now and put the last couple behind us.

“We need to get the winning feeling back around the club and I know that this group of girls has got what it takes to do so.

“We are all really looking forward to getting back on to the pitch on Sunday to right the wrongs from the last few games.”

Despite their recent form, Rowe remains upbeat about the atmosphere in the Pompey squad.

She said: “It’s good, considering the last few results. It’s very loud and everyone is looking forward to Sunday.

“We are all working hard for each other and, of course, there is lots of healthy competition to earn a place in the starting 11.

“That is only a good thing – it motivates us all to test ourselves to get our name on the team-sheet.”

Tickets for Pompey’s trip to Stadium MK are priced £5 for adults and £3 for seniors, with under-16s admitted free of charge.
