Match Preview: PDFA Cup Final

Blues face Horndean this evening

17 April 2019

Pompey Women will aim to lift the Portsmouth District FA Cup when they face Horndean in tonight’s final.

The contest takes place at the PMC Stadium (7.30pm kick-off) and sees the Blues trying to secure a second piece of silverware this season.

Jay Sadler’s side travelled to AFC Totton at the start of the month and beat Southampton 3-1 to claim the Hampshire Cup.

Danielle Rowe, Jade Bradley and Shannon Albuery all found the target during the first half, giving Pompey a commanding lead at the break.

Nat Bavister did find a way past Mel Burns during the season half – in a game watched by 577 – but the Blues saw the rest of the tie out to ensure a 15th triumph in the competition.

Now they meet a Horndean outfit who progressed past Bedhampton in the last four to set up this evening’s showpiece.

Pompey, meanwhile, ensured there would be no cup upset, as they eased to a 4-1 victory over Moneyfields back in February.

Rachel Panting – top scorer with 17 goals this term – bagged a hat-trick, with Emma-Jane May also on target.

Now the Blues will look to win another final this evening, with the game being played at their home ground, the PMC Stadium (PO3 5LY).

Tickets are priced £4 for adults and £2 for concessions, and can be bought at the ground.
