From the highs of the FA Cup wins through to the lows of almost going out of business, Our Club is a film by Barnaby Fox, which will be officially launched at tonight’s game against Peterborough.
The trailer for the movie – which is showing at the No.6 cinema in the historic dockyard next month – will be shown on the big screen at half-time.
Made by Zanda Films, with the cooperation of the club, Fox has been given exclusive behind-the-scenes access over the past four years, as well as interviewing more than 35 protagonists in the story of the Blues, including Iain McInnes, Ashley Brown, Peter Storrie, Balram Chainrai and Guy Whittingham.
Director Fox, who is Melbourne-based and a Crystal Palace fan, said: “As an outsider, the Pompey story always fascinated me.
“What the fans achieved here was incredible, so that’s why I approached the club to make a film about what really happened.
“Working with Colin Farmery, the club were hugely helpful to me and I am delighted with the end result.
“It is important to note this is not a big-budget movie, such as we’ve recently seen with Manchester City and, to a lesser extent, Sunderland.
“This has been shot on the fly, but in consequence, I feel I’ve been able to get really close the true Pompey story. It’s a gripping tale.”
The film premieres at No.6, with a VIP reception, on May 15 and there are public showings on Wednesday, May 22 and 29. Tickets can be booked here.
Later in the summer, the film will be available on download platforms and there are also plans for a special DVD in the autumn.
