Mick Dawson, world record-breaking professional sailor, wowed guests at last week’s Network Pompey Business Club networking lunch at Fratton Park.
He delivered an inspirational talk about the importance of teamwork in all three of his major ocean rows, as well as fear; how to cope with it and how to shape it into a tool to help achieve your goals.
Capturing the attention of the crowd, Dawson went on to give further details about his record-breaking 2,500-mile row across the North Pacific Ocean, which he completed with fellow former Royal Marine, Steve Sparkes, who is registered blind.
The voyage took 82 days to complete and put the pair in the record books as ‘Sparky’ became the first blind individual to row the Pacific.
You can read more about their epic journey in Dawson's latest book, which is available to purchase here.
