Pompey's defence of the Leasing.com Trophy continued with a Fratton victory over Northampton.
The 2-1 triumph saw the holders book their place in Thursday evening's draw for the third round.
Michael Harriman headed the visitors into an early lead, only for a first senior goal from Leon Maloney to draw the Blues level.
