Home Comforts For Collighan

Winger interviewed in today's programme

17 February 2019

Alex Collighan fired a curling effort into the top corner to clinch the south coast derby for Pompey Women last month.

And now the winger is looking forward to being back in action for the Blues after missing the dramatic contest at Watford seven days ago.

She was on international duty when the Blues were beaten 5-4, as Helen Ward scored with the final kick of the game to undo an amazing comeback.

Speaking in the programme for this afternoon’s Hampshire Cup clash with Southampton Saints, Collighan said: “So far this season it has been a rocky road up until the Christmas break.

“We weren’t getting the results we desired, although I wasn’t at the club for all of that time, so I can’t really say.

"It’s crucial that we maintain a high intensity and quality on the training pitch – then the results will come."

“However, after starting 2019 with three wins from three – before last week’s goal glut at Watford – we want to continue that form.

“It’s crucial that we maintain a high intensity and quality on the training pitch – then the results will come.”

Also in issue 10, new Pompey keeper Hannah Haughton – who is cup-tied today – recalls her time with Southampton Saints.

There are also the usual round-ups from Blues boss Jay Sadler and chairman Eric Coleborn, so make sure to pick up your copy at the PMC Stadium for just £1.
