Pompey have made an excellent start to 2019, with three wins in three different competitions.
And Matt Clarke is determined to keep the bandwagon rolling in a bid to win promotion to the Championship.
The Blues have built up a five-point lead at the League One summit, with closest rivals Luton and Sunderland meeting this weekend.
Blackpool are the visitors to Fratton Park on Saturday and Clarke knows that Pompey have to take their opponents seriously.
The defender said: “We went up there earlier this season and with everything happening there, you perhaps thought they would struggle.
“But they’re a resilient side and if you underestimate them then you’re probably going to lose the game.
"Promotion is in our own hands and so we have to keep working hard and doing what we have been doing."
“When you’ve come this far and we’ve given ourselves a great opportunity, it would be disappointing if we let it slip.
“Promotion is in our own hands and so we have to keep working hard and doing what we have been doing. We want to finish the job.
“It’s a bit hectic at the moment – it feels like it’s game, day off, a day of training and then back to playing again.
“That’s what happens at this time of year and it doesn’t look like it’s going to ease up with the cup competitions we’re in.”
As a former Ipswich player, Clarke particularly enjoyed last week’s FA Cup victory at their fierce rivals Norwich.
He said: “Everyone in our team was happy, but for me and my family, there was definitely an extra bonus.
“I was there when Ipswich lost to them in the play-off semi-final, which was a bad experience, so it was nice to go to Carrow Road and have a positive one.”
