Pompey Mourn Justin Edinburgh

Former Blues defender passes away

8 June 2019

Pompey are shocked and saddened by the death of Leyton Orient manager Justin Edinburgh at the age of just 49.

The former Blues defender made 38 appearances during a spell with the club at the start of the 21st century.

After beginning his career at Southend, the left-back spent a decade with Tottenham, where he played more than 250 times.

He was part of the team that beat Nottingham Forest to lift the FA Cup in 1991, then returned to Wembley eight years later to help Spurs win the League Cup.

Edinburgh was signed by Pompey in March 2000 and remained on the south coast for three years before departing for Billericay.

He began his managerial career with spells at several non-league sides, taking over a struggling Newport outfit and leading them back to the Football League.

Stints in charge at Gillingham and Northampton followed, while Edinburgh recently guided Orient to the National League title.

Everyone at Pompey would like to send their deepest condolences to Justin’s wife Kerri, their children, and his family and friends at this difficult time.
