Social media reaction: A busy couple of days

Casey signs professional terms, while two new players join Pompey

27 June 2019

In the past two days, youngster Matt Casey signed his first professional contract, while Ryan Williams and Sean Raggett joined the club ahead of the new season.

The flurry of activity kicked off on Wednesday lunchtime when academy graduate Matt Casey signed his first professional contract.

Pompey fans and former loan clubs were quick to congratulate the young defender, who will be looking to build on his three appearances in last season's EFL Trophy.

Wednesday night then saw the first of two new signings this week, as Ryan Williams put pen to paper on a two-year deal, seven years after last appearing for the club.

Williams made just six substitue appearances in his last spell with the Blues back in the 2011/12 season, but has since gained promotion out of League One, featured more than 50 times in the Championship and also earned an international call-up.

With the squad returning to pre-season on Thursday, there was a new face among the ranks, as defender Sean Raggett joined the Blues on a season-long loan from Premier League side Norwich.

26-year-old Raggett – who famously scored the winner for Lincoln against Burnley in the FA Cup – does not have a recall clause and will be looking to build on his loan spell at Rotherham last season.
