Match Preview: Pompey Women v MK Dons

Blues back on home soil

9 March 2019

Pompey Women return to the PMC Stadium following successive away games when they host MK Dons on Sunday.

And they will be looking to right some wrongs after a disappointing 4-0 defeat at table-topping Coventry last time out.

Jade Widdows made her Blues bow as a half-time substitute, but Jay Sadler’s side left Communications Park empty-handed.

Attention now turns to the visit of MK Dons, who Pompey met in the reverse fixture back in September.

Rachel Panting, Daisy McLachlan and Katie James all found the target in a 3-1 victory, as the visitors battled back from being a goal down at the break.

This weekend’s opponents are two spots – and the same number of points – behind the eighth-placed Blues in the National League table, with both sides having played 13 games.

MK Dons needed extra-time to see off Liverpool Feds last Sunday and reach the final of the division’s Plate competition.

Caitlin Collighan could make her Pompey debut after being an unused substitute against Coventry, but Mel Burns, Sarah Eadon, Ellie Kirby and Jaime Rowlands are all sidelined.

And you can see if Pompey can return to winning ways when they host MK Dons at the PMC Stadium tomorrow (2pm kick-off).
