Pompey are mourning the death of Jon Gittens, who has passed away at the age of just 55.
The defender played 99 matches – and scored two goals – for the Blues between 1993 and 1996.
He signed from Middlesbrough and soon won over the Fratton faithful, despite having had two previous spells with fierce rivals Southampton.
Gittens was a regular during his first two campaigns with Pompey, but appearances were limited when Terry Fenwick replaced Jim Smith as manager.
Both of his goals came at Fratton Park, arriving in Division One stalemates with Stoke and Derby.
Gittens ended his playing career with stints at Torquay, Exeter and Nuneaton, later working as coach and manager for a number of non-league sides.
The thoughts of everyone at Portsmouth Football Club are with Jon’s family and friends at this difficult time.
