Sean Raggett is back in contention for Pompey when they host Altrincham in the second round of the Emirates FA Cup on Saturday.
The defender has returned to training after recovering from the adductor problem picked up at Harrogate in the previous stage of the competition.
But the game will come too soon for Tom Naylor and Ross McCrorie, who are not far away from full fitness.
Blues boss Kenny Jackett said: “Sean has trained with us again and is available to play on Saturday in the cup.
“But other than that, we’ll be working with the same group of players that were involved against Rotherham.
"Sean has trained with us again and is available to play on Saturday in the cup."
“Next week is a more realistic target for both Tom and Ross and they’ll both have the Peterborough game in mind.”
Jack Whatmough is back in training for Pompey, but will not feature for the reserves in Friday evening’s Premier League Cup game at Aston Villa.
Jackett said: “He’s been doing really well, although we certainly won’t be looking at rushing him back.
“He might just need one more week out on the training pitch and then we’ll look to arrange a game for him.”
