Four-time British Champion kitesurfer Lewis Crathern was the special guest at the latest Network Pompey Business Club lunch.
As well as recounting his fascinating career, Crathern shared footage of his infamous kitesurf jump over Brighton Pier.
As extraordinary as it was, he expressed the importance of taking the risk. During a low point of his professional career, the stunt gained worldwide media attention and as a result, helped revamp his career.
Crathern was in a coma for almost a week, with doctors initially predicting he would be in hospital for more than a month. Showing incredible resilience, fast forward just six weeks and he was back kitesurfing.
Now, in between training and competing, Crathern coaches children to inspire them through the sport. He also co-founded Europe's biggest kitesurfing festival – Kitesurfing Armada – on Hayling Island.
You can now book your place at November's networking lunch, where the guest speaker will be Stephen Robertson, CEO of the Big Issue Foundation.
