Pompey are looking to kick-start their League One campaign when they host Burton this evening.
Five points have been collected from the first five fixtures, with as many as three games in hand being held over other teams in the division.
The Blues will feel they should have a greater haul, with contests against Sunderland and Coventry seeing points thrown away.
But Andy Cannon is confident that the Fratton faithful will soon be afforded plenty of reason to cheer.
“I feel like we haven’t been outplayed by any team so far, but the results don’t really show that and we should have more points,” he says in the official matchday magazine for tonight’s game.
"I feel like we haven’t been outplayed by any team so far, but the results don’t really show that."
“I do believe that if we can get a couple of wins on the bounce then it will lead us on a run. I also know that we’ve got the players capable of achieving real success here this season.
“We’ve got a few games in hand over the other teams and have to make sure we’re ready for these busy stages, preparing properly for each one.
“We need to get back into a winning habit. There were a few new signings over the summer and I think the team’s close to gelling – I can’t wait to see what happens when it does.”
