Match Preview: Pompey Women v Oxford

Blues return to league action

22 September 2019

Pompey Women are back in National League action this afternoon as they take on Oxford at the PMC Stadium (2pm kick-off).

Jay Sadler’s side have won each of their past three games, which have all taken place on their own patch.

Extra-time cup victories over Watford and Gillingham sandwiched an 8-0 league rout of Hounslow a fortnight ago.

Their next opponents have played the fewest number of games in the division, with a 4-0 win against basement side Chichester their only outing to date.

It leaves them below the Blues on goal difference, with the sides currently occupying eighth and ninth positions.

Pompey met Oxford twice towards the end of last season – and they were both extremely entertaining encounters.

The first took place at Court Place Farm, with Emily Allen’s volley securing the points for United after Katie James’ free-kick had cancelled out a penalty.

Oxford then travelled to the south coast the following week and this time the Blues were defeated 2-0.

If you want to watch Pompey’s return to league action then tickets are available to buy on the gate at the PMC Stadium (PO3 5LY) this afternoon.

They are priced £5 for adults and £2 for concessions (U18/63), with a programme also available for £2.
