Blues run riot at PMC Stadium

Pompey Women secured their first National League victory of the season with an 8-0 rout of Hounslow at the PMC Stadium.

Tamsin de Bunsen, Becki Bath and Charmaine True all chipped in with two goals, with Jade Bradley and substitute Eilidh Currie also on target.

And there were just seconds on the clock when the deadlock was broken on a sunny south coast afternoon.

DE BUNSEN gratefully capitalised on a mix-up in the visitors’ defence to slot home and get the ball rolling.

Laura Ingram then had a shot saved from the edge of the box, as Pompey soon began to take total control of the contest.

There were a couple more opportunities from de Bunsen, while Hayley Bridge saw an effort come back off the post.

But the advantage was finally doubled on 36 minutes, courtesy of a long-range effort from BATH that found the bottom corner.

It was more clinical from the hosts after the interval and DE BUNSEN calmly tapped in a third goal after rounding the keeper.

There was then a special strike from BRADLEY just before the hour mark, with the midfielder hitting an unstoppable effort from 30 yards.

Then, when True was crudely felled in the Hounslow box, BATH stepped up to powerfully convert from the spot.

Danielle Rowe almost got in on the scoring act soon after, but her low drive from True’s cutback hit the woodwork.

It was TRUE who scored the sixth herself, slipping the ball through the keeper’s legs to complete a fine move.

And TRUE found the target again late in the contest, battling to keep hold of possession before lobbing into the net from 25 yards.

But there was still time for CURRIE to complete the scoring with a tidy finish from inside the Hounslow area.
