Ben Close has been nominated for the Sky Bet League One August Goal of the Month award.
The Pompey midfielder has been shortlisted for his stunning strike in the 2-0 victory over Tranmere at Fratton Park.
He flighted a superb 30-yard shot into the top corner on the half-volley – just a few days after netting another superb effort against Birmingham in the Carabao Cup.
Close will have to see off competition from Doncaster’s Niall Ennis and Peterborough’s Marcus Maddison to land the prize.
The shortlist was chosen by a panel comprising Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman, Sky Bet sponsorship executive Matt Goodwin and EFL senior media manager Rob Meaden.
