Pompey Academy Send Milkwood Care Best Wishes During Pandemic

Young Blues put a smile on residents' faces

17 April 2020

Pompey Academy players have been spreading positivity among Milkwood Care’s residents during the Covid-19 pandemic, via weekly video calls on Zoom.

The players were due to visit the care homes before the end of the season, but these were unfortunately cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak.

They have instead relied on technology to keep in touch and have been updating the residents on the fixtures played this season and what they are doing to keep fit and stay entertained during these unprecedented times.

The residents also shared their own stories of how they have been playing games, solving puzzles and facetiming friends and families to keep spirits high.

Jon Slater, academy education and player care officer, said: “It’s great to catch up with the residents at Milkwood Care during these unprecedented times.

"We’ve visited them on numerous occasions over the years and it's great to see that some of them recognise the players from the previous visits.

"We’ve enjoyed hearing what they have been up to and looking forward to visiting them in person once all of this has blown over.”
