Ava Rowbotham Returns To Pompey Women

Midfielder pens permanent deal

7 August 2020

Pompey Women have announced the return of Ava Rowbotham following a loan spell last season.

The midfielder spent the majority of the 2019/20 campaign at Championship side Lewes, featuring in nine games.

She progressed through the ranks at the Sussex club, having previously featured for their academy and development sides.

Initially joining the Blues back in March, she didn't manage to feature due to the league being declared null and void.

Rowbotham said: "I’m really glad to be back and signing on for the full season.

"I see this move as an opportunity to progress myself. Pompey are in a very competitive league with some great players."

"Obviously last season, before Covid-19, I had a short loan spell with Portsmouth, all the girls were really welcoming and it’s a great set-up.

"I see this move as an opportunity to progress myself. Pompey are in a very competitive league with some great players.

Blues boss Jay Sadler added: "Ava is a very technically sound player, with good vision and a strong engine. Not only that, she's humble, determined and eager to develop.

"These attributes complement the current group and will aid us in our ambition to push forward.

“This addition strengthens our squad and provides us with competition in the centre of the pitch, as well as much-needed depth.”
