Pompey recovered from a poor start to win at Stevenage on penalties and reach the second round of the Carabao Cup.
Kenny Jackett's side had to recover from 2-0 and 3-1 down, with Ronan Curtis' strike and a Gareth Evans penalty giving them a lifeline.
John Marquis then levelled and the tie went to a shoot-out, wihere Craig MacGillivray saved three Stevenage spot-kicks to seal a 3-1 penalty triumph.
