New Deal For Brown

Left-back extends Blues contract

3 August 2020

Lee Brown has signed a new two-year Pompey contract.

The deal ensures that the 29-year-old left-back will remain at Fratton Park until the summer of 2022.

He has made 72 appearances for the Blues since arriving from Bristol Rovers in June 2018, opening his goal account against Peterborough last term.

Brown said: “I’m over the moon to get the deal over the line and am looking forward to the new season.

“It’s come around so quickly and everyone’s ready to go again with some serious intent to get promoted.

“It was obviously disappointing to lose on penalties in the play-offs, but it helps to have a few weeks off to refresh.

“Now everyone is raring to go again and we’ll be working extremely hard to bring success to the club.

“Last season was a frustrating one for me because of injuries. I’ve never really experienced that before, so now I’m determined to kick on.

“We’ll obviously miss the fans being there, especially with the atmosphere they create at Fratton Park.

“But we’re still in the middle of a global pandemic, so it’s something we have to deal with and hopefully they’ll be back sooner rather than later.”

Blues boss Kenny Jackett added: “Lee played very well in the play-off games and is an experienced defender, who also has good attacking attributes. We’re delighted that he’s signed a new contract.”
