Anderson and Bell on target for young Blues

2 December 2020

Pompey Academy extended their unbeaten run to five matches with a 2-1 victory over Forest Green at Baffins’ PMC Stadium.

They took the lead when Harry Anderson converted a good cross from David Setters to take his personal tally for the season to 14 goals.

And after the Blues had stolen possession, a cool Charlie Bell (pictured) finish ensured they took a commanding advantage into the interval.

Rovers reduced their deficit from the penalty spot midway through the second half, but were unable to find a leveller.

Professional development phase coach Liam Daish said: “We got off to a very good start and took the lead with another goal from Harry.

"There were chances for us to extend our lead before the penalty, but then we stood up well defensively and saw the match out."

“The second one came about because we were pressing Forest Green and won the ball high up the pitch, while it was a neat finish from Charlie.

“But we were playing up the slope in the second half and the game turned into quite a scrappy contest.

“We were in front and so our opponents were able to throw caution to the wind and ask a few questions of us.

“There were chances for us to extend our lead before the penalty, but then we stood up well defensively and saw the match out.

“It’s another good win for us and we’re enjoying some decent form at the moment, so want that to continue.”
