Andy Cannon will not feature for Pompey in their midweek clash at fellow promotion-chasers Coventry.
The midfielder missed Saturday’s victory over Tranmere with a glute injury and has not fully recovered.
But Kenny Jackett hopes that the in-form player could be back for Shrewsbury’s south coast visit next weekend.
The Blues boss said: “Andy’s a bit better and we think he’s got a chance of being available again on Saturday.

“We estimate that he’ll be back out on Thursday, so will have to see how he gets on later in the week.
“Oli Hawkins is okay after getting a bang in the head for the reserves at Exeter, so he could travel up.
“Otherwise we’ll be going to Coventry with the same group that we had at Tranmere and are looking forward to what’s a big game.”
