Cameron McGeehan has enjoyed a successful start to his Pompey career.
The on-loan Barnsley midfielder has been involved in five games since arriving on the south coast – and the Blues have won them all.
Sunderland were comfortably beaten at Fratton Park on Saturday in the most recent of those victories.
It means that Pompey now occupy a space inside the League One top six, but McGeehan wants to ensure they continue climbing the table.
He said: “We’ve had some really positive results in recent weeks and you need them to keep coming in order to build more momentum.
“There’s a really strong togetherness in this squad and that’s what you need to have in a successful team.
"There’s real confidence running right through the group because we’re getting big wins against big sides."
“It’s nice to be involved in a club that’s really on the up, especially because we were losing most weeks when I was at Barnsley!

“It’s a really good time to be hitting that run of form that you need at this stage of the season. The club’s in a good place.”
Goals from Christian Burgess and James Bolton ensured that Pompey saw off the Black Cats at the weekend.
McGeehan said: “It was a big three points against a side who our rivals for promotion. It was important to get the win and now we need to kick on.
“We were really comfortable in the second half and were on top, but that comes from hard work and making sure we win the balls.
“The noise at Fratton Park can suck the life out of the opposition and it makes it really hard for teams to come here.”
