Pompey Reserves ended their Premier League Cup campaign with a 3-0 defeat to Aston Villa.
First-year professional Matt Casey skippered a youthful side in the group stage contest at Bognor’s Nyewood Lane.
Both sides entered the contest knowing that they could not qualify for the knockout stages, with Exeter and Doncaster sealing the top two places.
But, following a tight first half, the visitors managed to score three times after the break to seal victory.
Aaron Ramsey opened the scoring on 53 minutes, with Tyreik Wright and Jaden Philogen-Bidace wrapping things up for Villa.
