It is difficult to predict which League One sides will be celebrating promotion come the end of the season.

Wycombe have held top spot for quite some time, but suffered a run of poor form over the festive period.

Second position has changed hands on a number of occasions, with Pompey still only six points off current tenants Rotherham.

So ahead of this weekend’s clash with AFC Wimbledon, we asked James Bolton what it will take to climb the table.

“There’s no easy answer,” he says in the official matchday magazine for Saturday’s game “I just think we need to make sure we put everything into every game we play.

“It has to come from the players. You’ve also got to take each one as it comes and not get too far ahead of yourselves.

"It’s so tight at the top of the table and there are quite a few teams who will feel that they’re in with a chance of going up.”

“It’s a real cliché, but anybody really can beat anybody in this division and so it’s an incredibly tough one to call.

“It’s so tight at the top of the table and there are quite a few teams who will feel that they’re in with a chance of going up.”

To read the full interview – where Bolton also discusses scoring his first goal for the club at Fleetwood – pick up your copy of the magazine from programme sellers around the ground.

Also in issue 19, Sean Raggett reveals his bests and worsts, while Alex Bass selects his dream dinner party guests.

We take an extensive look at AFC Wimbledon, while there are exclusive columns from chief executive Mark Catlin, manager Kenny Jackett, skipper Tom Naylor and broadcaster Ian Darke.

All this and much, much more can be found in a packed 84 pages, with the programme priced just £3.
