Pompey Women have bolstered their squad with the signing of Portugal U19 international Nicole Filipe.

The former A-Dos-Santos wing-back featured 26 times in the Premiere Division before moving over to England to study at the University of Portsmouth.

She has represented her country six times – at a variety of age groups – and the 18-year-old is looking forward to featuring for the Blues.

Nicole said: “I'm very excited to join a club of Pompey’s stature. It’s been a long process recovering from my injury and now I’m eager to get back on the pitch and play again.

“There’s a great set-up down here and I hope I can make an impact quickly. I want to help the team achieve their goals for the rest of the season.”

Blue boss Jay Sadler added: “Nicole is a player with great pedigree in her home country. She’s young, energetic and hungry – characteristics that will help her fit right in with the current group.

“We’ve been working with Nicole for a while now, as she recovers from injury, and we’re looking forward to seeing what she can offer us moving forward.”

Nicole has impressed while training with the club for several months. Subject to receiving international clearance, she is available for Sunday’s match against Gillingham.
