Pompey are still waiting to hear how and when the 2019/20 campaign will be concluded.

But whether the final nine games are played or it goes straight to play-offs, Steve Seddon will be there to aid the cause.

The Birmingham left-back’s loan deal ended in May, but has now been extended to cover any matches that take place over the summer.

And the 22-year-old is pleased that he will be able to help the Blues in their quest for promotion to the Championship.

He said: “It was always the plan for me to finish the campaign at Pompey and then see what happened after that.

"Everyone’s geared towards getting back to playing again – whether that’s the last nine games or straight into the play-offs."

“But with the circumstances that we’re currently in, it’s good to get that confirmation that I can see out the season here.

“Everyone’s geared towards getting back to playing again – whether that’s the last nine games or straight into the play-offs.

“The latter would be tough, but we’re raring to go and you’ve just got to be ready to deal with whatever comes your way.

“It’s up to the lads to make sure we’re prepared – both physically and mentally – for that. I’m sure they all are.

“We’ve all been doing bits at home to stay in shape during the coronavirus lockdown and hopefully that will pay off.”

Seddon scored once in 17 appearances – and played a part in a host of other goals – after arriving at Fratton Park in January.

He said: “I was loving it. This is a great place to be, with a fantastic group of lads and staff. The fans are also brilliant.”
