Harness Wins Goal Award

Pompey star tops public vote

20 November 2020

Marcus Harness has won the Sky Bet League One Goal of the Month award for October.

The Pompey forward received 49 per cent of the public vote for his superb strike to complete a hat-trick at Burton.

He beat off stiff competition from Fleetwood’s Callum Camps and Doncaster’s Ben Whiteman to secure the prize.

Harness said: “I’m delighted to win this award and would like to thank everyone who voted for me.

“It was a great feeling to score my first hat-trick for Pompey and I was particularly pleased with that third goal.

“More importantly, it helped us secure an important victory and our away form since that day has been excellent.”

Don Goodman, lead Sky Bet EFL Goal of the Month judge and Sky Sports pundit, added: “The way Harness disposed of his marker was impressive enough, but the finish that followed was nothing short of sublime.

“The deft touch to lob the keeper was of the highest quality, creating a goal more than worthy of securing three points for Pompey and Goal of the Month recognition.”

Barnsley’s Alex Mowatt was voted the winner of the Championship award, while the League Two prize went to Newport’s Scott Twine.
