Three Debutants Against Hammers

Team news for Papa John's Trophy contest

10 November 2020

Kenny Jackett has handed debuts to three players for this evening’s Papa John’s Trophy group match against West Ham U21s.

Third year scholars Harry Kavanagh and Alfie Stanley both make their Blues bow, as does academy midfielder Charlie Bell.

There are 11 changes from the side that dramatically progressed in the FA Cup at Ipswich at the weekend.

Jordy Hiwula is handed a first start up front, with Paul Downing, James Bolton, Bryn Morris and Alex Bass the other senior players present.

Haji Mnoga is given another opportunity to impress, while Harvey Rew and Eoin Teggart both appeared in this competition last season.

Six more members of Pompey’s academy side are named among the substitutes, with progress to the knockout stages already confirmed.

Pompey: Bass; Mnoga, Bolton, Downing (c), Rew; Kavanagh, Bell, Morris, Teggart; Stanley, Hiwula
Subs: Turnbull, Setters, Hughes, Jewitt-White, Lee, Bridgman, Brook
