The past few days have brought two wins from two games for Pompey.
And Kenny Jackett is determined that his side use that as a springboard for more success this weekend.
Victories at Burton in the league and Southend in the EFL Trophy have provided a much-needed injection of confidence.
So Jackett will be looking to make it a hat-trick when they welcome MK Dons to Fratton Park on Saturday.
The Blues boss said: “We’ve had a very positive week and the win at Burton last Saturday will have helped our confidence.
“Then we changed the team almost completely in a different competition on Tuesday and it means everyone in the squad has had a chance to play.
“We’ve got a few different options in terms of shape now, while Rasmus Nicolaisen and Michael Jacobs have provided added flexibility.
"With the games now coming along so regularly, the team need to get into a rhythm, but it’s something we welcome."
“So now we really want to follow up on two really good and lively performances by winning again on Saturday.
“There have been spells in all our games where we’ve looked bright, but we have made real strides over the past week.
“With the games now coming along so regularly, the team need to get into a rhythm, but it’s something we welcome.”
The visitors are currently sitting at the foot of the table at this early stage of the season, although Jackett expects a stern test.
He said: “MK Dons play very good football in a defined way and they have a lot of belief in what they do.
“I watched their performance against Ipswich last week and they did well, so we certainly won’t be underestimating them at all.
“We understand they have some very good players like Richard Keogh at the back and we’ll have to be at our best.”
