Loan Watch: Storey Scores Winning Pen

Four Pompey youngsters made appearances for their loan clubs

28 September 2020

Several Pompey youngsters were in action for their loan clubs last week.

Midfielder Gerard Storey scored the winning penalty in Gosport Borough’s FA Cup first qualifying round victory against Tavistock on Wednesday night.

Fellow Blues loanee Eoin Teggart also featured in the tie, which finished 2-2 after 90 minutes.

The Pompey pair were joined by defender Harry Kavanagh for Boro’s next game against Farnborough at Privett Park.

While Teggart came off at half-time, Storey and Kavanagh played the full match as Gosport ran out 4-0 victors.

Alfie Stanley was also involved in FA Cup first qualifying round action in midweek, playing in Bognor Regis Town’s clash with South Park.

With the sides also locked at 2-2, a 4-2 penalty shoot-out win saw the Rocks through to the next stage of the competition.

Stanley started again when the Sussex side returned to league action away to Haringey Borough, but the striker couldn’t prevent a 2-1 defeat at the Coles Park Stadium.

Gosport will play their third game in six days this evening (September 28) when they travel to Beaconsfield, while Bognor play fellow Sussex club Horsham tomorrow (September 29).
