Pompey fought for three points without playing particularly well at Fleetwood last Saturday.
But it was a different story against Crewe on home soil, with a dominant display deservedly yielding a 2-0 victory.
John Marquis and Marcus Harness both netted in the second half to ensure it would be a good weekend for the noisy Fratton faithful.
And the latter wants to see the Blues continue to showcase attractive football, while constantly looking to improve.
Harness said: “It was a really good performance and it was amazing to have fans inside Fratton Park again.
“We all felt the energy and it helped us to kick on and keep a strong press on for the whole 90 minutes.
"Coming out for the second half and kicking towards the Fratton End, we were confident that the ball was going to end up in the net soon enough."
“Even at the end, Crewe couldn’t really get out of their own half, so hopefully we can build on it and do the same again on Tuesday.
“Coming out for the second half and kicking towards the Fratton End, we were confident that the ball was going to end up in the net soon enough.
“So we just kept doing what we had been doing and thankfully it all worked our for us with a 2-0 victory.
“We’ll come up against different teams who might not want to play out like Crewe did, but that’s the kind of display we’re looking for every game.
“We don’t want to over-play, but there are more wide triangles and trying to switch the play to show some attractive football, which suits guys like me.
“It’s all been very promising so far, so we’re keep trying to improve and play the way the gaffer and Nicky are looking for.”
