Danny Cowley is waiting to learn whether Marcus Harness can feature at Wigan in League One this weekend.
The winger missed last Saturday’s draw with Doncaster after injuring his quad during a home victory over Shrewsbury.
And Cowley hopes to be able to utilise his skills when Pompey make the long trip up to the DW Stadium.
The Blues boss said: “We’ll wait to see whether he’s available. We’re hoping he is because you’ll always miss someone of Marcus’ quality.
"There’s an added goal threat as well – which is always important – so we certainly want him to be travelling with us on Friday."
“Carrying the ball and crossing it on the run is a dying ability. It’s a wonderful skill to get it into the area and it’s lovely to see.

“Generally, we’re in a good place and worked hard during pre-season to get our players physically fit and strong, so they’re able to deal with the demands of a League One season.”
Pompey will definitely be missing long-term injury victims Jayden Reid (knee) and Liam Vincent (shin), but Callum Johnson is available again following a three-match ban.
