Pompey Women were beaten 2-0 at Championship side Lewes in their final friendly before the start of the 2021/22 campaign.

The visitors made a bright start to the behind closed doors contest and Emma Jones twice went close to scoring.

But it was the home side that broke the deadlock on 16 minutes, courtesy of former Blues forward Ini Umotong.

Jones then had an opportunity to hit back before the break, firing narrowly over after being teed-up by Hayley Bridge.

Hannah Haughton did well to deny Umotong following the restart, but the Nigeria international did double Lewes’ lead on 54 minutes.

Shannon Albuery had a couple of opportunities to reduce the deficit late on, smashing one shot against the post and seeing another saved.

Pompey: Haughton, Tonks, Rowe, Younger, E.Jones, Lane, Bridge, Khassal, Rowbotham, Gane, Quayle
Subs: Kingshott, McDonnell, Mason, Albuery
